Celebrating 116 years of ministry

On Friday, November 11, we gathered to celebrate 116 years of ministry. Thank you to everyone who attended this year's anniversary banquet! We were blessed by the music of Redeemed Quartet, and we enjoyed our time of fellowship—it was encouraging to see so many of you this year.

Testimony
At our banquet, we heard from Howard and learned more about his time at the Mission. The environment that Howard came from was not good, with drug and alcohol use taking place around him. When the person Howard was living with lost their apartment, he had nowhere to go—but that struggle turned out to be a blessing. Howard came to the Mission, and during one of our chapel services he heard the gospel and was saved. We saw a change in Howard's attitude and outlook on life. He began working for us part-time, helping serve breakfast and doing some janitor work. Howard doesn't have any family around, and he says that we are his family now. We are so thankful for your support which allows us to help people like Howard every day.

Thank you
We appreciate all of the generous sponsors who made this year's banquet possible. We received many comments about how much people enjoyed the event. In addition to a time of fellowship, the banquet is a fundraiser for our daily ministry, and we are thankful for everyone who gave generously! There were a number of people in attendance who were invited by others—we appreciate those who invited guests and we encourage others to do the same! Our banquet is a great opportunity to introduce people to the work of the Mission.

A history of caring—continued
In our 116 years of ministry, there have been many families who have remained involved through multiple generations. We have heard from donors who started giving because their grandparents or parents gave and they know how much the ministry meant to them. We've also heard from older adults who recall coming to the Mission with their family or church to hold services when they were younger.

We're thankful for all the families who have supported Lima Rescue Mission over the years; this continuity has been a tremendous blessing. If you are the first in your family to support the Mission, we hope you will pass on the tradition of giving, ensuring that the ministry will be equipped to care for those in need for generations to come.

You make a difference!

Your support this month helps provide care for others year-round. Our goal is to raise $100,000 in December. You can donate online now and visit our online giving page again in the future to track progress toward our goal.

Current needs

Donating items from our needs list is a great way to make a difference in the lives of the poor and homeless, and anyone can get involved by collecting these items. The best time to bring donations to the Mission is on weekdays from 9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. or weekends from 9:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. A list of current needs can be found on this page.

Volunteer opportunity

Would your church, business, family, or other group be interested in joining us to serve meals? This activity is ideal for a group of at least two and up to seven people and is a great way to get involved in hands-on ministry to the homeless. We provide meals every day, and the time of serving and cleanup runs from 4:30–6:00 P.M. You can join us to serve as a one-time activity, or get scheduled to serve on a monthly basis. We are also looking for groups who are interested in providing meals! If you would like to get involved in this ministry, please contact Chuck at 567-242-5601, or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Prayer partners

We are grateful for those who take time to pray for our ministry. Please continue to pray that the hearts of those we serve will be open to the truth as the gospel is proclaimed, and that those who are saved will be encouraged and strengthened as they grow in Christ. If you have a prayer request, please feel free to share it with us and our staff will be happy to pray for you.
